In the House or Senate chamber, a request by a member to institute any of a wide array of parliamentary actions. The member "moves" for a certain procedure, such as the consideration of a measure. The precedence of motions, and whether they are debatable, are both set forth in the House and Senate manuals.

• Independence Day will be celebrated in Lakewood on July 2 with a band concert and fireworks. The Lakewood municipal band and chorus will start the celebration with a concert at 8 p.m. at the amphitheater near Lake Carasaljo, which is near Route 9 south in Lakewood. A fireworks display will begin at 9 p.m. and can be viewed either from North or South Lake Drive.
